The White Wash: Maison Margiela and the Luxury of Deconstruction

In a voluminous sports venue in the heart of Shenzhen, Maison Margiela has executed what might be the most radical experiment in Consumer Agency this year. As part of their nationwide Maison Margiela/folders initiative, the house presented the Bianchetto: Atelier Experience, a participatory workshop that turns the act of "branding" into a communal performance.
Rather than selling a finished product, Margiela invited participants to bring their own wardrobes into the fold. This is a masterclass in Value Transformation, where the brand provides the "how" and the "code," but the consumer provides the canvas.
