Arc'teryx's QVB Dinner Was Built Around the Same Brief as Its Gear.

Arc'teryx celebrated the opening of Australia's first Alpha Store with a dinner beneath the glass dome of the Queen Victoria Building, and the production matched the occasion.

A long banquet table running the full length of the QVB floor, a miniature mountain landscape of native flora and moss built down its centre, candlelight against Victorian ironwork, and Arc'teryx's technical branding set against one of Sydney's most architecturally loaded interiors. The contrast was the point. Heritage architecture and obsessive performance design are, it turns out, speaking the same language. Both are built to last. Both are defined by detail you only notice up close.

To Forage, To Climb, To Summit

Creative production by Place of LB. Catering by A Plenty, with food design by Mira Curated and chef Harry John Wilson. The menu was structured around mountaineering progression — Forage, Climb, Summit — with each course built around that conceptual arc. Betel leaf and Caviaroli at the base. Raw, terrain-led elements through the middle. High-concept dishes at the peak. It's the kind of brief that could read as gimmicky and instead reads as genuinely considered, because the food was strong enough to hold the concept.

The Southern Hemisphere's Largest Alpha Store

The dinner was the launch event for Arc'teryx's most ambitious retail footprint in the region — three floors inside the QVB, the largest Alpha Store in the Southern Hemisphere. The space includes Australia's largest dedicated Veilance zone, a harness testing area, a ReBIRD care and repair centre, a rock wall inspired by the Blue Mountains, and a First Nations art installation created in collaboration with Miranda Hampson and Elders Uncle Ray Davison and Aunty Barb Simms, reflecting thousands of years of Gadigal knowledge and connection to Country. The store is doing a lot of things at once, and doing them deliberately.

What Arc'teryx got right with the QVB dinner is that the event expressed exactly what the store is trying to be: technically precise, culturally aware, and genuinely committed to the landscape it draws from. A mountain tablescape under a Victorian dome is a bold visual choice. It worked because the brand has the substance to back the spectacle. The Alpha Store underneath it will need to hold the same standard every day. On the evidence of the opening, the intent is there.

Basketball Stars makes players want to try another game because each time they step onto the court, completely different things can happen.
