What does it look like when a brand doesn’t transport product into a space, but instead transports the consumer into a state of mind? With the COCO BEACH pop-up in Shanghai, Chanel constructs a world that moves beyond retail into emotional escapism, where the boundaries between environment, collection, and narrative dissolve. Framed as a garden-facing villa infused with pastoral calm and black sand beach surrealism, the activation is not simply inspired by a holiday, it becomes one. The result is a fully immersive expression of leisure as luxury.

At the core of the experience is the translation of Matthieu Blazy’s COCO BEACH collection into spatial form. The collection’s interplay between relaxed utility and elevated craftsmanship is mirrored through the material palette itself. Raffia, light wood, and shimmering textures create a tactile language that feels both natural and refined, anchoring the space in authentic material storytelling. Coral installations and dreamlike sky elements extend this further, building a layered environment that reflects the collection’s marine influences while maintaining Chanel’s signature restraint.
