From Shinjuku to Nagoya: Onitsuka Tiger's Summer of Flagships.
Onitsuka Tiger has opened its second-largest store in Japan near Nagoya Station — designed by Milan's Studio Dini Cataldi and arriving just weeks after the brand's largest global flagship opened in Shinjuku.

The pace of Onitsuka Tiger's domestic expansion is striking. Two major flagship openings in the same summer — Tokyo in July, Nagoya in August — signals a brand moving with real conviction on home turf, building a network of stores capable of carrying the full weight of what Onitsuka Tiger has become: a fashion label, a heritage archive, and a formal footwear brand all operating under one roof. The Nagoya location brings all three together across two floors in the Nagoya Mitsui Building, near one of the city's most trafficked transit gateways.

Andon Lanterns, Terrazzo, and Rosso Lepanto Marble
Studio Dini Cataldi's interior takes Nagoya's industrial character and cultural precision as its starting point. The ground floor is open and fluid — dark terrazzo flooring, steel and glass fixtures, leather sofas — with an overhead canopy of luminous light boxes referencing the warm glow of traditional Japanese andon lanterns. The effect is calm and considered, with the products given room to hold attention rather than competing with the architecture. The upper floor shifts register: Rosso Lepanto marble becomes the dominant material, its warm red-brown tones bringing a more sculptural, intimate atmosphere. Marble surfaces double as product displays, making the architecture and the edit a single unified statement.

Heritage, Contemporary, Formality — All Under One Roof
The store carries the full breadth of the Onitsuka Tiger universe: Heritage, which reinterprets the brand's archive; Contemporary, the Milan Fashion Week collections shown under the Onitsuka Tiger name; and Formality, formal footwear from The Onitsuka line. NIPPON MADE and ITALIAN MADE product lines are also stocked — a deliberate signal of the dual craft identities the brand has built its premium positioning around. Men's, women's, and kids' product across all categories completes the offer.
Now operating independently from ASICS, Onitsuka Tiger is using its flagship store programme to define what the brand is on its own terms. The Nagoya opening — like Shinjuku before it — is not simply a retail expansion. It is a physical argument for the brand's breadth and sophistication: Japanese craft heritage, Milan fashion week presence, and a design collaboration with an Italian architecture studio, all compressed into two floors near Nagoya Station. The stores are the brand statement. That's a deliberate choice, and the right one.
