Most beauty pop-ups reach for polish. Glossier's SoHo flagship reached for a corner store instead — snack shelves, apple crates, a scratch-off card at the counter — and in doing so built one of the more emotionally accurate brand activations of the summer.

Walk into "Balmdega" and the details do more storytelling than any signage could. Crates of locally harvested apples stamped "grown and packed by Glossier" sit alongside New York City tourist-shop staples reimagined in Glossier's own visual language: a Big Apple tee, an Applebaby keychain, a baseball cap sold only at this counter. None of it is subtle, and that's deliberate; the entire activation is built around the limited-edition I ❤️ NY Balm Dotcom, an apple-flavoured, clear-tint balm that only makes sense as a product once you're standing inside a space engineered to feel like an actual New York bodega rather than a beauty counter dressed up for a theme.
