But when Jeff Staple decided to plant a permanent flag on Shanghai's bustling Huaihai Middle Road, the challenge wasn't just about moving product, it was about Cultural Transposition.
The resulting flagship, designed by the multidisciplinary studio Design at Present, is a masterclass in how a legacy label can expand globally without losing its soul. By positioning the iconic bird as a "spatial mediator," the store creates a dialogue between the industrial scaffolding of Manhattan and the patinated brickwork of old Shanghai.
